CRC Bio Degreaser
-
MAIN STEP 1
-
Apply a generous amount of marine grade neutral cure adhesive to the base of the wedge mount as shown below.
-
-
MAIN STEP 2
-
Install the pump between the hoses in the lowest part of the bilge as pictured below. The wire from the pump must face the front of the watercraft and the pickup for the pump should be just behind the factory scupper pipe as indicated by the red arrow in the picture below.
-
-
Install the pump first, to allow the adhesive time to set while you complete the rest of the install. Attach the bilge hose to the pump last to avoid moving the pump whilst the adhesive is still wet.
(It may be necessary to leave the adhesive overnight to cure)
-
Trophy Install (Outlet)
Follow steps marked (A)
-
STEP (A) - 1
-
Begin by removing the factory live well outlet cover on the rear of your ski. Taking care to carefully remove the live well hose from the cover, do not force this. Loosen the hose clamp and carefully manipulate the hose off the cover.
Once removed, use the provided drill template to align and drill the 2.8mm pilot hole in the cover as shown in the pictures below:
Once the pilot hole has been drilled and you are happy it is aligned correctly, carefully drill the 20mm hole using the supplied step drill. Be sure to properly support the cover when drilling to avoid injury with the drill.
-
STEP (A) - 2
-
Unscrew the outer threaded hex part of the Water Dragon outlet. There should be 2x parts to the outlet, a ring with the angle to match the cover and the threaded outlet with hex shaped hole as below
Due to tolerances in the 3D printing process, it is important to ensure that the ring can rotate freely on the threaded outlet. If you find that the ring is binding on the threaded outlet, use some fine sand paper to carefully sand the inner part of the ring until it moves freely on the threaded outlet.
This is an important check and step as failure to ensure a loose fit will result in difficulty installing the outlet to the cover.
Assemble the outer part of the outlet with the ring having the angled portion facing the thread of the outlet as below
Insert the outer half through the cover and using the supplied 3D printed OCD hex wrench, attach the inner half of the outlet (with hose attached).
Take care not to cross-thread the outlet as this will result in damage, the threads should be easy to engage and do not require excessive tightening.
-
STEP (A) - 3
-
Now you are ready to re-install the cover to your ski. Feed the hose through the factory opening on your ski, re-attach the live well outlet using the supplied cable ties and ensure you cable tie the 2x hoses together, to provide additional support to the new outlet.
-
STEP (A) - 4
-
Replace the cover and secure with the factory screws.
Sport and Explorer Pro install (Outlet)
Follow steps marked (B)
Installing the outlet on the Sport and Explorer Pro will require an additional hole to be drilled through your hull. If you are not confident in this step, please seek professional assistance. Whilst all tools and instructions are provided with our kits, we accept no liability for any damage you may cause to your watercraft as a result of an incorrect installation.
Prior to starting the below, should your watercraft have any aftermarket accessories installed in the hull that may interfere with the location of the Water Dragon outlet, please take extra care to ensure that drilling in the locations indicated below will not damage these accessories in any way.
NOTE FOR THE EXPLORER PRO
You will need to remove the multi cargo rack from your watercraft prior to proceeding with the installation of the outlet below.
Below is a link to a YouTube video showing the removal of the rack on a GTX Limited which is the same procedure for the Explorer Pro.
LinQ Multi Cargo Rack installation and removal - GTX LTD (ST3)
-
STEP (B) - 1
-
Using the provided drill template and 2.8mm (7/64") dill bit provided.
Carefully align the template on your watercraft as indicated below, taking note of the arrow and writing orientation.
This is viewed when standing at the rear of the watercraft and is located on the right hand side.
Drill 3x holes through the pilot holes indicated by the red arrows on the template. The holes must be drilled all the way through the hull.
-
-
STEP (B) - 2
-
Using the 25mm TCT hole saw provided in the kit, align the pilot drill with the middle hole you drilled earlier and make the center hole for the pipe.
Start slowly at first to allow the hole saw to cut the initial starter groove to avoid slipping.
-
-
STEP (B) - 3
-
Next, you can feed the attached hose on the outlet through the hole, and snug down the outlet using the 2x stainless steel self tapping screws provided.
-
TOP TIP:
Spray some WD40 on the screw threads before inserting them to make tightening a little easier. Be sure to press down on the screwdriver with more force than you turn with to avoid stripping the screw heads. Go slow!
-
Switch mount install (All models)
You are now ready to install the switch mount, connect into the factory fuse box and hook up the wiring harness to the pump with the easy to connect Delphi plugs that are pre-wired.
Please ensure your key is not installed and that your watercraft is not powered on during these steps.
-
MAIN STEP 3
-
Start by installing the custom mounting bracket for the switch housing.
This will come assembled onto your switch housing in your kit. Remove the 2x bolts using the supplied 3mm T-handle Hex wrench.
The nyloc nuts are captive in the printed part and will remain in place.
Slide the mount onto the plastic molding as shown in the photo below.
NOTE: The mount should stop short of the width of the molding. This is by design.
-
-
MAIN STEP 4
-
Insert and tighten the right hand M5 bolt to secure the mount in place.
Be sure not to over tighten the bolts these do not need excessive tightening.
When tightening the bolts, the ball end should only be used to sneak the bolt down until the nyloc nut grips it.
-
MAIN STEP 5
-
You can now prepare the fuse box for the installation of the power feed wire and new fuse.
To gain access to the underside of the fuse box to insert the wire, use a large blade flat screwdriver to release the retaining clips on either side of the fuse box, lifting upwards on the fuse box whilst releasing the clips. Start with the clip closest to the middle of the watercraft as shown below.
Fuse box wiring
Then the left hand side
Lift the fuse box up and towards the rear of the watercraft to gain access to the underside. Flip the fuse box over to see the underside.
Using the supplied bamboo skewer, gently press out the Delphi blanking plug in the empty hole as indicated below, being sure to catch it with your hand underneath.
This will open the hole for you to insert the RED wire from the switch box with the pre-installed Delphi connector on the end. This should be inserted (when viewed from the underside of the fuse box) into the hole indicated below.
The connector found on the RED wire of the supplied wiring harness has a tang to lock it in place when inserted. Ensure that the tang is facing towards the front of the Watercraft when the fuse box is upside down.
The tang can be seen in the photo below.
NOTE: The tang should be facing the opposite way to the photo below, the photo is to show the tang not the alignment.
Insert the RED wire with connector into the correct hole as indicated above until you hear a click and the green rubber seal is seated correctly in place as below.
Once inserted, you can confirm the correct orientation from the top side. The folded part of the terminal should be facing the rear of the watercraft as indicated by the image below.
You can now install the provided 5AMP fuse into the location, and store your spare fuse in the lid of the fuse box for safe keeping (There is a clip to hold them on the underside). Re-install the fuse box onto the factory clips and replace the lid as this part is complete.
-
MAIN STEP 6
-
Switch box install
You are now ready to install the switch box onto the custom mount.
Using the supplied clip, M5 bolt and washer. Install the clip loosely onto the mount ensure there is enough movement to allow you to install the switch housing.
-
MAIN STEP 7
-
Position the switch housing onto the mount, bottom first and then align the clip with the slot in the top. Tighten the clip bolt down using the short end of the hex wrench supplied. Do not use the ball end as you risk stripping the hex drive on the bolt.
-
MAIN STEP 8
-
Negative battery wire connection
Install the negative lead to the battery terminal. The reason for the battery negative lead is due to the undersized negative wire in the factory fuse box. To avoid any risks, it was decided to connect directly to the battery negative terminal instead.
The negative lead comes pre-installed with a ring terminal with a 6.3mm hole size. Should you have a battery with a terminal bolt larger than 6.3mm you will need to replace this ring terminal prior to installing it onto your battery.
Carefully remove the bolt from the negative (Black) terminal on your battery. Install the bolt onto the ring terminal as shown below, and re-install the bolt with negative (Black) wire to your battery.
Take care not to drop your battery bolt into the hull and ensure you are connecting to the negative terminal of your battery and not the positive.
-
MAIN STEP 9
-
Secure the wiring harness
Route the wiring harness and secure appropriately using the supplied cable ties. How you route your harness is a personal choice, the images below are for reference and the optimal way we have found to do it.
Create a loop if there is excess wire on the pump as below
Connect the pump using the pre-installed Delphi connectors, ensuring the seal is seated correctly and the clip engages. The male and female plugs can only connect the correct way around, do not use excessive force.
-
MAIN STEP 10
-
Connect the bilge hose
The final step is to connect the bilge hose and test the pump.
Using the supplied hose clamp, loosen the hose clamp and slip it over the end of the bilge hose.
(We suggest turning a few turns on the hose clamp prior to installing it onto the hose to loosen the fit as the black coating on the clamp can seal the mechanism and needs to be released)
Insert the hose onto the outlet of the pump and tighten down the clamp.
This does not require excessive tightening.
-
FINAL STEP
-
Test the pump
Ensure your key is inserted on the watercraft and it is turned on (Dashboard on)
Press the bottom of the switch to activate the manual pump mode, the switch will not latch in this position.
You should hear the pump run and the red LED on the switch illuminate.
Move the switch to the auto position (latch), the green LED will illuminate and the pump will be set to the auto mode.
You can leave the switch permanently in this position as the circuit for the pump is only active when your watercraft is powered on.
If you want to test the pump completely, you can pop the garden hose into the hull and slowly fill with water. The pump will automatically kick in when the water reaches approximately 45mm over the pump and kick off automatically when it senses there is no more water to pump.
Refer to the included manual in the pump box for the correct operating and maintenance procedures for your pump.
Congratulations you have successfully installed the OCD Water Dragon Bilge Pump Kit!
